Session 1. Using Transfer paints. We have unfortunately had to cancel this workshop but hope to arrange and alternative date.
Use transfer paints to paint papers which we will use to create backgrounds on fabric ready for stitching. A variety of techniques will be used to paint the papers which will then be used in various ways to produce backgrounds for stitching. By the end of the morning session we will have prepared papers to use to make a variety of textiles for stitching and in the afternoon will move on to creating the fabric and developing stitching ideas.
Session 2. Using oil paintsticks. We have unfortunately had to cancel this workshop because of the temporary closure of number 6 in response to the Covid-19 outbreak.
Oil paintsticks are a permanent way of colouring fabric. They can be used in a variety of ways to produce interesting backgrounds for stitching. They can also be used to enhance fabric designs. During the session a variety of techniques will be taught and there will be the opportunity to develop some stitching ideas.
Session 3. Dendritic printing
A printing method that uses glass sheets and a variety of media. Each print is unique and provides backgrounds that can be stitched and embellished. The session will enable participants the opportunity to print a number of prints, using different fabric samples.
A technique used on paper that can be used successfully on fabric. The morning session will be spent producing the monoprints. The afternoon session will be spent stitching into the backgrounds. Again a range of fabrics will be used to produce the monoprints.
Each workshop runs from 10 am to 4 pm and costs £40 a session or £150 if four sessions booked. All materials will be provided.
